Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

Our delicious chocolate banana bread sweetened with maple syrup. It’s chocolate heaven!


Ingredients for Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

  • 185g plain flour
  • 40g cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 175g chocolate chips
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 100g Pure Maple Syrup, Dark Robust
  • 60g brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk


  1. Preheat the oven to 175C, fan 155C or gas mark 4 and line a 2 pound loaf tin.
  2. Gently melt the butter in a sauce pan and add the sugar. Stir it well to dissolve and then add the maple and the chocolate chips. Stir until all the chocolate has melted and set aside.
  1. In a bowl whisk the eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  2. Mash 3 bananas with a fork and cut the fourth banana lengthwise to place on top of the banana bread later.
  1. Weigh out the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Once the butter and chocolate mixture has cooled slightly, start to mix in the beaten eggs and dry ingredients.
  3. Add the mashed bananas and fold in the milk. Decorate the top with the sliced banana halves.
  4. Place in the middle of the oven and bake for 50 minutes, until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
