French Apple and Maple Tart Recipe

This is such an easy dessert to make in no time and it looks amazing! All you need are some apples, ready made puff pastry, maple syrup, a bit of icing sugar and flaked almonds. Delicious served with vanilla ice cream.
Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas mark 6 and line a large baking tray. Roll out pastry on a slightly floured surface to about 24cm x 28cm rectangle and transfer to the baking tray. Using a sharp knife, score a 2.5cm border around the pastry. Place in the fridge while preparing the apples.
Core the apples and thinly slice them. Place them in a large bowl with the juice of 1/2 a lemon and toss them in the lemon juice.
Once the apples are prepared, remove the pastry from the fridge. Brush some maple syrup over the pastry and reserve some for later.
Neatly arrange the sliced apples and sprinkle with almond flakes.
Bake for 20 – 25 minutes until the apples are tender and the pastry is crisp.
Allow to cool and brush the top with the remaining maple syrup and dust with icing sugar.
