Vegan Apple Crumble Recipe
The perfect comfort food. This vegan apple crumble is a delicious treat for the whole family, with a crunchy toasted topping and maple sweetened apples.
Ingredients
- Crumble topping
- 175g plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 100g dairy free spread
- 75g demerara sugar
- 60g flaked almonds
- Filling
- 1kg Granny Smith apples
- 1 tablespoon dairy free spread
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground nutmeg

75g Pure Maple Syrup, Amber Rich
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C, Fan 160C, Gas Mark 4.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon and sugar. Add the dairy free spread and rub in with your fingers until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the almonds, spread the mixture onto a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes, turning halfway through, until lightly toasted.
- Peel, quarter and core the apples, then cut each quarter into thirds. Melt the dairy free spread in a shallow pan over a medium heat. Add the apples, spices and a tablespoon of water. Cook for about 10 minutes, adding the maple syrup halfway through, until the apples are tender.
- Transfer the apples to a 28cm oval heatproof dish. Top with the toasted crumble and bake for a further 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm with vegan vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of maple syrup.
